‘This book is for anybody who has ever been on the receiving end of the question “Are you pregnant?” or “When are you due?” or “So, have you got children?”.’
In 2023 I illustrated a collection of poems by Lucy Seymour-Kelleher that playfully depicted what it feels like to be asked extremely personal and unwelcome questions regarding weight and physical appearance. They are drawn from uncomfortable and awkward personal experiences, as well as humorous ones, which I wanted to highlight, as an illustrator, to how ridiculous it is to comment on another person’s body.
